The Prayer Wall
New
Beginnings Fellowship has a prayer wall placed in the gathering
area during the Sunday morning celebration at 10:45 a.m. It
is a place where participants in celebration may pray with
a prayer partner. At present the pastor fulfills the role
of the prayer partner but we are welcoming others to take
part in this and be at the Wall during our spiritual response
time of worship. The wall is a reminder of the Wailing Wall
in Jerusalem and that we followers of Christ come out of that
Jewish tradition.
- When you approach one of the Prayer Partners,
the person you chose will extend his or her hand to you. You
may choose to take their hands or hug them, if that feels
right to you. You may also tell your Prayer Partner that you
do not wish to be touched. They will understand.
- If you wish to pray aloud, tell your Prayer
Partner what your prayer request is. Your partner will repeat
the request back to you using his or her words while ensuring
that your specific request is honored.
- You do not have to pray aloud and may pray
in silence if you wish. If you need a shoulder to cry on your
Prayer Partner will be that for you. Anything that you say
to your Prayer Partner will be held in strictest confidence.
- Written prayer request may be placed on the
bulletin board. These prayers will be read, and prayed for
by others, and initialed by Prayer Partners. Other people
in our community of faith may read and pray for these as well.
Prayers placed on the prayer wall therefore are not confidential.
At the end of the quarterly season the prayer request on the
wall are burned in the celebration time as a visible sign
that our prayers have gone to God.
